Dear Saltwater Coast Community,
Finally! We're here with some positive news that we expect will find itself well received – and not only by Residents and those who are frequent visitors of Saltwater Coast – but also, in what marks another really great, long-awaited step in the right direction forward for the wider Point Cook Community. It brings us great pleasure to be sharing the following update from the ‘Point Cook Action Group’ on the subject of planned road infrastructure upgrade works, and importantly at that, as it addresses one of the most notorious and unsafe intersections for road-users currently found in Point Cook.
Important Update on the Sneydes Road Point Cook Road Intersection
“In response to a request to Wyndham City Council the Point Cook Action Group team is delighted to inform Saltwater Coast residents of the news that the upgrade of the Sneydes Road Point Cook Road intersection will include the duplication of a section of Point Cook Road.
This duplication of Point Cook Road will extend from the Sneydes Road and Point Cook Road intersection to the roundabout at the entrance to Sanctuary Lakes.
According to the press release by the Hon Jill Hennessy a $15.2 million allocation has been made by state government to cover the cost of the major upgrade at this intersection. Community engagement for the design is planned for September 2021.
The Point Cook Action Group team is very pleased for this positive outcome as the group has been advocating for some time the installation of traffic lights and an upgrade of this intersection which is considered to be a major safety issue. This advocacy campaign has included numerous meetings with local councillors, council staff, local politicians and a postcard campaign to the Minister for Roads and Road safety. Future strategies will include advocacy for a further duplication of Point Cook Road”
